A McCain Win = A Conservative Loss / So vote for my Dad
To some this could be a shock... McCain is a conservative... Right??? Not Really. I would put McCain in the Gerald Ford/Richard M. Nixon/Dwight D. Eisenhower camp of Republicans. You may have heard that John McCain likes to think of himself as a Theodore Roosevelt. Teddy was a bit of a populist and someone who had convictions so strong that he split from his party and formed his own party just to run for President. I could only hope John McCain will do the same thing. Just before I go on, John McCain is a Hero and a Patriot. My Dad is a Hero and Patriot, but my Dad is a conservative.
The "Vote against Obama" crowd cares very little for a conservative movement. If McCain wins, how does this move the conservative movement forward? John McCain isn't reliable at a time when conservatives need just that in the Whte House. If Democrates (most of them liberal) have larger margins of control in the House and Senate it would be nice to see someone that would force a veto override. This may not be the case with John McCain. I'm not sure why he voted against
- $14.5 billion for Department of Defense (military operation and personnel, high-priority munitions, equipment, intelligence and other purposes)
- $6.7 billion for Homeland Security Department, including $385 million for the Transportation Security Administration
- $5.5 billion for New York City recovery efforts from the events on September 11, 2001
- $2.1 billion for foreign assistance programs, including $200 million for AIDS programs, $250 million for Israel and Palestinian humanitarian aid, and $210.5 million for embassy security
- $1.1 billion for Veterans Benefits (compensations and pensions)
In 2002 and...
- Eases the marriage tax penalty by making the standard deduction for married couples twice that of a single filer through 2004
- Increases the expensing allowance for businesses from $25,000 to $100,000 for 2003 through 2005

I'm sure (duh) he has crossed the aisle to vote with Democrats more than twice... Thank GOD for Democrat Senators like Ben Nelson to offset John McCain...
