Someone sent me this... If you don't feel this way about your state, then you either need to fight to make your state better and move to a state like Texas.

In every man, woman and child on this planet, there is a person who wishes just once he could be a real live Texan and get up on a horse or ride off in a pickup. There is a little bit of Texas in everyone.

Texas is the Alamo . Texas is 183 men standing in a church, facing thousands of Mexican nationals, fighting for freedom, who had the chance to walk out and save themselves, but stayed instead to fight and die for the cause of freedom.

We send our kids to schools named William B. Travis and James Bowie and Davy Crockett, and do you know why? Because those men saw a line in the sand and they decided to cross it and be heroes.

Texas is Sam Houston capturing Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana at San Jacinto .

Texas is huge forests of Piney Woods like the Davy Crockett and Sam Houston National Forests .

Texas is floating the rivers of the Hill Country on a hot summer day.

Texas is the beautiful, warm beaches of the Gulf Coast of South Texas.

Texas is that warm feeling you get when someone asks where you're from.

Texas is the shiny skyscrapers in Houston and Dallas.

To drive across Texas is to drive 1/3 the way across the United States .

Texas is ocean beaches, deserts, lakes and rivers, mountains and prairies, and modern cities.

If it isn't already in Texas , you probably don't need it.

No one does anything bigger or better than it's done in Texas .

By federal law, Texas is the only state in the U...S. That can fly its flag at the same height as the U.S. Flag. Think about that for a second. You fly the Stars and Stripes at 20 feet in Maryland , California , or Maine , and your state flag, whatever it is, goes at 17 feet. You fly the Stars and Stripes in front of Klein Oak High or anyplace else at 20 feet, the Lone Star flies at the same height - 20 feet. Do you know why? Because it is the only state that was a Republic before it became a state.

Also, being a Texan is as high as being an American down here. Our capitol is the only one in the country that is taller than the capitol building in Washington , D.C. And we can divide our state into five states at any time if we wanted to!We can become a republic again at any time the voters of Texas choose, and we included these things as part of the deal when we came on.
That's the best part, right there.

Texas even has its own power grid!! And don't even lie to yourself... Did I mention Live music capitol of the world?

The slow death of pocket digital cameras

I don't own a crystal ball, but it seems to me that small digital cameras are on the way out. We have 3 still photo cameras in our house and we do use them, but we really don't have to. I have a Nikon D40 SLR that is really our main camera. Fortunately no phone or camera company has tried to combine SLR's and phones... "Hey, are you happy to see me or is that a phone in your pocket."

With that said, I have had 3 phones in the last year, the HTC Tilt, Motorola Droid, and my current iPhone. The tilt took pictures that could only be described as hideous. To get a clear picture one would have to freeze time itself. The Motorola Droid took some of the most amazing video and pictures I have seen out of any device that size. The iPhone only takes good pictures and video if you full light.

The other contributing factor is the scale of these pictures. Who prints pictures? really... how often do you print all your pictures anymore? It's all digital and therefore the quality and pixel density never leaves the digital world. Take a picture/video and put it on the internet... DONE! I can every picture I have ever taken for less than the cost of 1 printed picture... WHY PRINT!!! Oh sure, Grandma just loves those pictures, so get her a digital picture frame that will update itself.

Some would say that they don't want a confusing device to take pictures... Me either, touch the camera icon and whamo... it's a camera....

Obama makes me tired... Have you ever awoke on a Monday and just said, "screw it, I'm tired" and hit the snooze. He makes it damn hard not to do that sometimes. Control the language and you can control thought. I guess that it isn't all that radical if your Muslim to strap a bomb to yourself and blow up innocent bystanders. Or maybe it says in the Quran to fly planes into buildings regardless of who is in them. But read this from a Homeland Security Assessment.

likely would attract new members into the ranks of rightwing extremist groups,as well as potentially spur some of them to begin planning and training for violence against the government. The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement"

Here is the definition of what a "rightwing extremist" is.

"Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."

Your government neither understands or really cares about you unless you are willing to comply with them.

I like Senator Tom Coburn. I even wished that I had him for a Senator instead of the knuckleheads I do have in Texas. Now... I'm not so sure. At a town hall meeting he defended Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a "nice person." Ok... that's an opinion... He then went on to beat up Fox News for being bias... More than once. You can listen to the whole thing here. Sometimes an opinion isn't worth sharing. Your on notice Senator Coburn, look at the ratings and tell me anyone is going to listen to you on this one.

How can you tell when you have a right? I believe and our founders and framers of these United States of America that rights come from our creator. So this is why health care insurance being a "right" is very odd. I'm not sure insurance could be a right UNLESS you believe your creator is your government.

I'm fairly sure that this government couldn't handle something so complicated as creating life. They mess up the things they are supposed to do like the census. Let me attempt to make this clear to even liberals like Al Franken . If the government grants you rights, whatever the government says your rights are and are not, those are your rights.

In this country we believe our rights are unalienable (incapable of being repudiated or transferred to another or not to be separated, given away, or taken away) and if you are not born with health insurance it would be because someone as taken that right from you. Doesn't this sound crazy?

I hope this makes sense to someone, because this "health care" reform bill just attempted to make health care insurance a right.

Next stop, your right to a job, living wage, and home... Oh wait...

Senator Tom Coburn introduced an amendment to the health care "fix" bill "This amendment would enact recommendations from the Government Accountability Office to stop fraudulent payments for prescription drugs prescribed by dead providers or, to dead patients. This amendment also prohibits coverage of Viagra and other ED medications to convicted child molesters, rapists, and sex offenders, and prohibits coverage of abortion drugs." The Democrats once again put party before country and voted against the amendment 57-42.

This is crazy, these Democrats need to go, ALL OF THEM. I don't why a party would so mindlessly destroying themselves and this country. This is the problem with people who base all decisions on feeling and emotion. You can show these statists the fact that forcing people to get off the government TEAT and get a job (almost any job) is better in both long and short run, they won't listen.

You Democrats ever get tired of being wrong? Why do you hate my country? And why do all solutions start with government acting like a Robin Hood and ending with the government just acting like a thug.

What a wonderful country. We pass a so-called health care bill that changes all the rules for everyone to cover less than 1% of all Americans who don't have health insurance. We pass it in-spite of a clear majority of citizens being against it. So now we have a President that won't invite private school and catholic school kids to the annual Easter Egg role at the White House.

I'm so tired of President Obama that I spit. Is it 2012 yet? Can we have an early election? I think we should amend the constitution to add the ability of 3/4 of the states to call for a no confidence vote of the President. This would trigger an election in 90 days in any year but a Presidential election year. Just a thought...

Obama hates the private sector SO much that even private school children bother him because they are not completely controlled by a government agency.

He needs to go in 2012 and this congress needs a major face lift in 2010.

This is really why all income tax should be flat. When I get into an argument with liberals about government they argue as to how unfair one situation is and how the government should help. They are always for a minority as long as they can have a VICTIM labeled next to them.

If 97% of the population voted against you, how would you feel? What would you do if all your neighbors decided that you are going to pay the neighborhood property taxes? I think I would move and I think the top 3% of the productive citizens of Oregon should move.

The vote was 54 -46 for a tax hike, but the only people paying higher taxes will be the top 3%.

At some point Democrats should take credit for our economy. Since they took control of the Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008 we have gone from under 5% unemployment to 10%. The Dow Jones is still off about 4000 points and now unemployment rates are dropping because people are GIVING UP!!!

What the HELL IS GOING ON!!!. Could we pay Congress and the President 2 trillion to just meet once (mandated in the Constitution) a stay home the rest of the year.

Anyone care to ask why Obama and the Dems beat the "to lower the debt we have to FIX health care" drum? I'll tell you why, we have almost $75 trillion dollars in unfunded Medicare liabilities. We need more people paying the government (being taxed) for health care even if they wouldn't see any "benefits" for 4 years.

Here the the big budget items:
$757 Billion on Medicare and Medicaid
$680 Billion on Social Security
$660 Billion on Defense
$388 Billion on the Interest on our Debt
$189 Billion on Federal Pensions
$20 Billion on Earmarks
